Gunns Plains
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gunns Plains is located 20km (a 25min drive) south of Ulverstone on the north-west coast of Tasmania.
This small valley has a population of approximately 300. The Leven river winds slowly through it's pristine pastures that support a variety of grazing stock. Agricultural endeavors are also very successful, benefiting from rich red volcanic soil.
The Valley has one vineyard that produces some excellent Pinot and Chardonnay. However, the main attraction in Gunns Plains are the amazing limestone caves and over 150 have been discovered. One (the second largest) is open to the public and regular tours run, so that anyone can get underground to see some of the most beautiful the limestone formations in Australia.
