Gundsø is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Roskilde county on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in east Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 64 km², and has a total population of 15,749 (2005). Its mayor is Evan Lynnerup, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The site of its municipal council is the town of Roskilde, which is in neighboring Roskilde municipality. Towns in the municipality include Gundsølille, Gundsømagle, Jyllinge (the municipality's largest town), Østrup Holme, and Ågerup.

Neighboring municipalities with land connection are Høje-Taastrup to the southeast, Ledøje-Smørum to the east, Stenløse, Ølstykke, and Frederikssund to the north, and Rødby to the west, and Roskilde to the south. Neighboring municipalities to the west, Skibby, Bramsnæs, and Lejre, are separated from Gundsø by the waters of Roskilde Fjord.

The municipality was created in 1970 due to a kommunalreform ("Municipality Reform") that combined a number of existing parishes:

  • Gundsømagle Parish
  • Hvedstrup Parish
  • Jyllinge Parish
  • Kirkerup Parish
  • Ågerup Parish

By January 1, 2007 Gundsø municipality will cease to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be combined with existing Ramsø and Roskilde municipality municipalities to form the new Roskilde municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 212 km² and a total population of 79,441 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Sjælland ("Zealand Region").
