[edit] About NPOV and encyclopedic tone on Gene Kranz
Gump, I think its awesome that you're fleshing out that Gene Kranz article; it really needed some more meat. The thing is, a lot of what you're adding isn't encyclopedic in tone. Quotes by Kranz aren't really a substitute for objective biographical information. But don't let that get you down. Read Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Tomorrow, I'll swing by Gene Kranz and tighten it up if it needs it. Feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Keep contributing! Fernando Rizo T/C 04:43, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
- Hey again, Gump. You wrote:
- thank you very much. i appreciate the help with Gene Kranz. i'm new to the proper format on wikipedia, so i did my best. the thing about kranz is that, since he is such a verbally astute man, who is about 'no-nonsense clarity', nobody has written much on him - he's done all the very clear and factual speaking already on his own. it makes it difficult to write about him without quoting him much, because 1. nobody else has written about him much and 2. everything about the program was basically stated by him and only a few other astronauts....so all i could do is quote, as little as possible. anything you can think of is welcomed. thanks!!
- I understand where you're coming from, but the article in its current state reads like an interview and not an objective encyclopedia article. It's a bit too conversational. I definitely suggest reading through Wikipedia:How to write a great article before you make any more major edits. It's also considered a bit rude to remove a template that someone puts on an article without taking any steps to correct the issue in question. Fernando Rizo T/C 05:05, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
