Hillbilly Deluxe (1987) |
Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc. is country music artist Dwight Yoakam's début album. It was also the first of three consecutive #1 Billboard Country Albums for him. Three of its tracks rose into the Top 40 of the Hot Country Singles chart in 1986. Yoakam's first hit was "Honky Tonk Man" topping out at #3; it was a song originally popularized by Johnny Horton in 1956. The follow-up hit was the title song, "Guitars, Cadillacs" at #4. His third hit from the album was "It Won't Hurt," which could only rise to #31. Another featured tune is "Bury Me," a duet with ex-Lone Justice vocalist Maria McKee. The album was the first of a long series of albums featuring record producer-guitarist Pete Anderson and his trademark twangy guitar work, in an artistic association that would last for more than a dozen albums.
