The mid-term resignations of three of the Parish Councillors meant that a by-election or co-opt will be held to find a number of replacements, to bring the council back up to full quota.

None of the Parish Councillors in Guilden Sutton are affiliated with a political party. The Clerk to the Council is David Norbury and the Local PC is Mal Baker.

The local MP is Christine Russell, Labour, as Guilden Sutton is part of the City of Chester constituency. The former MP was Gyles Brandreth. Previously, in around the 1950's, Guilden Sutton was part of the Eddisbury constituency.

In June 2006, Cllr. Bob Armitage was elected Chairman of the Council, and Cllr. Ron Bayton Vice Chairman. Cllr. Armitage is also the Father of the Council.
