Guideposts is a non-profit organization founded in 1945 by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale and his wife, Ruth Stafford Peale dedicated to helping people from all walks of life achieve their maximum personal and spiritual potential. The organization is committed to communicating positive faith-filled principles for people everywhere to use in successful daily living.
The primary activities of the Guideposts organization are publishing Guideposts Magazine and inspirational books, and its outreach ministry services which provide inspirational publications, audio programs, and videotapes to those in need. The Guideposts Knit For Kids program has partnered with many leading organizations including World Vision and Feed the Children to send sweaters knit by readers to needy children in America and around the world.

Guideposts publishes five magazines that have a combined paid circulation of close to 4.5 million. Best known is Guideposts magazine, with a circulation of 3.3 million, making it among the top 20 largest magazines in the United States. Other magazines include Positive Thinking Magazine (launched in 2005), Angels on Earth and Guideposts Sweet 16, all published bimonthly.

Guideposts Magazine sponsors two writing contests. The annual Guideposts Young Writers Contestawards a total of $25,000 in scholarship funds to high school juniors and seniors whose personal true stories are chosen for publication in the magazine. The Guideposts Writers Workshop Contest, held every other year, offers winners a free writing clinic with established authors in Rye, New York, for five days, all expenses paid.
