Guerrilla comedy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Guerrilla comedy is a form of comedy usually done in a crowd or on the streets, as opposed to in a studio or a comedy club. The term makes an analogy to guerrilla warfare.
[edit] Tactics
The idea of guerilla comedy is to sneak up on the victim and catch them in an embarassing moment. This is usually accomplished by either acting in some socially unacceptable way, e.g., covering a microphone in feces. The comedian needs to be able to also run very fast as some people are not very receptive to this style of comedy. Some of the more daring comedians tend to use this not only on the unsuspecting public but their families as well.
[edit] Controversy
The idea of this comedy is to create controversy and make people uncomfortable. This does have an adverse affect such as when comedians are attacked by their unsuspecting victims. Some of the more notable cases have involved actually being chased by people weilding bludgeoning objects.
