Guelph Memorial Gardens
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Guelph Memorial Gardens was an arena located in Guelph, Ontario. It was originally built in 1948 out of the remnants of a nineteenth-century building that had housed the Royal Winter Fair. The arena held 4000 people and was home to numerous Guelph ice hockey teams, including the Guelph Platers and the Guelph Storm. The arena closed in 2000 with the opening of the Guelph Sports and Entertainment Centre. Demolition commenced in December 2005 and is ongoing as of April 2006. The city of Guelph is building a municipal office complex on the site, located as it is right next to Guelph City Hall.
