Guatemalan rock

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Guatemalan rock or Rock Chapin has been growing since the mid 1990s.

[edit] Description

Bands like Bohemia Suburbana, Viernes Verde, Viento en Contra, and Malacates Trebol Shop are the most recognizable Guatemalan bands that have pushed rock tendencies into the new millennium.

There is a strong rock movement among the young people of Guatemala. Newer bands like Lambda, Caravan Sicodelica, Post, Domestic Fool, and Tambor de la Tribu and soloists like Giovanni Pinzón, vocalist of Bohemia Suburbana, continue to promote rock music in Guatemala.

The band that opened many doors for the rock chapin movement was Alux Nahual. Alux is allegedly one of the three Spanish-speaking rock bands that has sold out the Los Angeles Palace.
