[edit] Examples

  • In Canada) the rank is used by privates in the Governor General's Foot Guards or the Canadian Grenadier Guards. The rank is considered non-gender specific and therefore applies equally to female soldiers, who are not to be called by the nonexistent "Guardswoman" or "Guardsperson". The rank badge is identical to that of a Private, to wit, a single chevron.
  • Singapore's Guards units are elite infantry units with all men serving in them known as Guardsmen.
