Guanikeyu

Guanikeyu, is the present day head tribal chief of the Jatibonicu Taino Native American Indian tribe of Puerto Rico. He was born in the town of Orocovis located in the cental mountains on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, in the year 1951.

The name Guanikeyu, or Guani-ke-yu, literally means "Noblebird of the White Earth". He is a hereditary blood chief and descendant of Cacique (Chief) Orocobix. Don Pedro Guanikeyu Torres is the present day tribal chief of The Jatibonicu Taino Tribal Nation of Boriken. This Taino Amerindian tribe is located within the central mountain region of the United States territorial commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The tribe's original Pre-Columbian tribal territory covers the present day local municipalities of Orocovis, Morovis, Barranquitas, Corozal and Aibonito, Puerto Rico.
