Group 1850

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Group 1850 was a psychedelic rock band from Holland. The band was founded in 1964 in Hague by the name Klits, renamed Group 1850 in 1966. The band was disbanded in 1968, reformed in 1969 and sporadicly active through the 70's. The band has also gone by the names S.I.X.(Sjardin's Invisible X-factor), Sjardin's Terrible Surprise and Orange Upstairs.

The band played a music similar to West Coast acid rock and early Pink Floyd. It is by some considered Continental Europe's first progressive rock band. Because most songs were in Dutch the band never had any larger impact on the English-speaking world.
