Talk:Grid network

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It should be noted that "Grid network" is an overloaded term, with the emerging connotation being a large number of desktop computers contributing their screen saver time to accomplish a task requiring large computational resources. Instances of grid computing include projects such as SETI@Home (analyzing radio signals for communication from extra-terrestrials), GIMPS (searching for a particular class of prime numbers known as Mersenne primes), and the Oxford Anthrax search (searching for molecules which bind particularly well to the anthrax toxin, thus preventing the disease).

An alternative title for the "Grid network" page might be "Interconnection networks for parallel processing"
