[edit] Indiscriminate licensing of clownfish collectors
The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority has bowed to pressure from clownfish collectors as a direct result of the movie "Finding Nemo". The market for clownfish has grown dramatically after the movie appeared, and hundreds of aquarium collectors, sanctioned by the GBRMPA, are presently scouring the Reef for these fish. Niches which four years ago had an abundance of these species, now are virtually devoid of them. Paul venter 14:40, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Scary! :o Do you have a source for this happening on the GBR? I've found this, but it's in Vanuatu, and so probably should go on the Finding Nemo page. - Malkinann 21:02, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
