[edit] Footscray career
Debuting with the Footscray Football Club in 1986, he was a reliable defender who went on to play 102 games (for 1 goal), and represented Victoria in State of Origin football in 1991.
[edit] North Melbourne career
Eppelstun was involved in an acrimonious transfer to the North Melbourne Football Club whereby he "stood out" of the 1992 season. The transfer was conducted by sports manager Stephen Peak and caused some degree of controversy. He only played 1 game for North, in 1993.
