Green bombers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Zimbabwe, people may refer to members of the ZANU PF youth militia as Green Bombers.

The youth attend camps for "National studies", operated by ZANU PF. They receive training in customary Zimbabwean ways of life, in police intelligence work and in martial arts. After training, ZANU PF may deploy the Bombers as a coercive and potentially violent group against any civilians who may resist ZANU PF orders. For example, if President Mugabe holds a rally, the Green Bombers may "encourage" large numbers of people to attend.

After training, the youth may join any government department, despite illiteracy in the area.
