Green Island (Catalina), Newfoundland

Green Island is southeast of Burnt Point, at the southern entrance to Catalina Harbour, in eastern Newfoundland.

There is a lighthouse on Green Island. It was established in 1857, and a fogohorn was added in 1883. The light is a steady white light.

This island is a famous place for birdwatching. The island is home to North America's second largest population of common murres. Green Ialand, Gull Island, Pee Pee Island and Great Island together form the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. The Witless Bay Ecological reserve is home to North America's largest population of Atlantic puffins.
