[edit] Merging

Bell curve grading seems to cover the same essential ideas as this page. Both pages fail to discuss well that "curve" isn't well-defined and is applied to several different grade modification techniques (see Talk:Bell curve grading for some additional discussion on that). I think the two articles should be merged together, and then should differentiate between a curve where all grades are increased by the same amount to bring the highest grade to A, a curve where the grades are all scaled between F and A, and a curve where the grades are statistically distributed with C as a mean and A as a maximum. (If nobody objects, I may eventually do this myself, but I haven't time right now.) -- Zawersh 21:31, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

They should most definitely be merged into this article in my view. I've explained the problems I see with the other article. Both could be redirected here in case people search on bell curve grading. Holon 00:32, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
I am in favor of merging the articles. The "bell curve grading" article was previously pretty worthless but I have (I think) made it a lot better, and it contains information not in the "grading curve" article, so do please retain as much as possible in the merger. My fix of the bell curve grading article addresses the problem of differentiating between different forms of "curving" grades that Zawersh mentions. Ventifact
A "me too" for merging the articles. --Gilded Lily 22:30, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
