Grapefruit spoon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A grapefruit spoon is usually similar in design to a teaspoon with a serrated front edge, the intent of the serrations being to separate the grapefruit from the rind.
[edit] Handle
Grapefruit spoons generally have a characteristic bamboo or wooden handle, which facilitates removing the flesh of the fruit by providing a solid grip. It is unknown why other, more modern grips are not used in its place; however, this standardization does make this otherwise unassuming utensil rather distinguishable from normal spoons.
