Grant Road

Grant Road (Marathi:ग्रँट रोड), named after Sir Robert Grant, who was the Governor of Bombay between 1835 and 1839, is a railway station on the Western Line of the Mumbai suburban railway. Grant Rd station is the most centrally located arterial station in South Mumbai and easily connects to all prominent place such as Gaumdevi,Girgaum Chowpatty,Babulnath,Malabar Hill,Peddar Road,Nepean Sea Rd via Nana Chowk on the West, to Duncan Rd, Dongri, Bhyculla(Central Railway)via Maulana Shaukatali Road and to Khetwadi,Gol Deol, C P Tank, Mumbadevi, Mandvi, Bhuleshwar, via Sardar Vallabhai Patel Road. Originally the station was terminus before independence. Unfortunately space is wasted now by having a parcel depot. A few trains like Balsad fast passenger or flying raanee can use this terminal. the suburban station was opened for operation by W.R again in 1968. There is a bus route no. 155 ( unidirectional ) from the West side of the station to connect to PEdder Rd. and sophia college.

Grant Road (East) is also home to Mumbai's electronics and computer hardware wholesale and retail market along Lamington Road.

Famous places accessible from the West are Mani Bhavan off Gowalia Tank, Banganga,Babulnath Temple, Priyadarshani Park, American and Russian Embassys,The Royal Opera house, Girgaum Chowpatty and Wilson College.

Famous places accessible from the East are Gol Deol off Duncan Road,Chor Bazaar on Mutton Street.

Contrary to popular perception, One of Mumbai's biggest red light districts, Kamathipura,(roughly translated - Labourers Village) is located on Sukhalaji Street off Falkland Road, very close to the Best Depot at Mumbai Central.

Falkland Road is also famous for JaffarBhai's Delhi Darbar, C Grade theatres like Alfred, New Roshans and a smaller Red light District.
