There are also several Grant Townships in Michigan.

Grant is a city in Newaygo County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 881. As of 2005 the Newaygo County Economic Development Office reports a population of 934. The city is on the boundary between Grant Township and Ashland Township, but is politically independent of both.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (2.99%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 881 people, 323 households, and 214 families residing in the city. The population density was 523.3/km² (1,350.1/mi²). There were 344 housing units at an average density of 204.3/km² (527.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 95.12% White, 0.23% African American, 0.23% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 2.04% from other races, and 2.27% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.33% of the population.

There were 323 households out of which 37.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.0% were married couples living together, 14.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% were non-families. 29.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.59 and the average family size was 3.22.

In the city the population was spread out with 29.6% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 16.2% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 86.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 76.1 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $30,972, and the median income for a family was $44,583. Males had a median income of $31,250 versus $16,696 for females. The per capita income for the city was $15,308. About 11.1% of families and 20.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 26.1% of those under age 18 and 19.9% of those age 65 or over.

Grant Michigan is located in Newaygo County at the junction of West 120th and M-37. Grant is 25 miles north of Grand Rapids and 160 miles northeast of Chicago, Illinois. The community of Grant is the county leader in Fine Arts. Grant provides a state of the art 800 seat Fine Arts Center and a new 15,000 sq. feet library. The area also has some of the largest muck farms east of the Mississippi River, the vegetables grown in Grant are packaged and sent around the world. This city also has last wooden railroad water tower in Michigan.

The history of "Grant Center" starts in 1882. In that year Andrew J. Squier built the first saw mill. In that same year a railroad station was also built on the Pere Marquette Railroad in Grant Center. Grant Center was incorporated in 1893, with the name was shortened to Grant in 1899. The City of Grant is named after President and Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant. During the community's early years, 20,000 board (47 m³) feet of lumber and 30,000 shingles per day were shipped out of Grant. In 1885 Squire was producing one million feet of lumber per year, in 1872 and 1873 nine million feet of logs were shipped to Grand Rapids from Newaygo County most all of it came from the Ashland Station (Present day Grant) at the rate of 100,000 a day.
