Grande Prairie Airport (IATA: YQUICAO: CYQU) is located 3 nautical miles (5.56 km) west northwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. It is the largest airport in the Peace Region of northwestern Alberta and northeastern British Columbia, having served 238,087 passengers in 2005. The airport is curently seeing extremely high passenger traffic growth due to the high economic and population growth of the city. The terminal was originally built in 1981, but is being extensively renovated with a new restaurant on the second floor. An expansion of the terminal to the south is scheduled for as early as 2007 due to much higher passenger traffic growth than expected.
