Grand Prix of Naples

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Grand Prix of Naples (1934 - 1962) was a car racing event at the 4100 metres Circuito di Posillipo, in Posillipo outside Napoli. It was known as the Coppa Principessa di Piemonte in honor of Marie-José of Belgium between 1934-1939, and after World War II it was the Gran Premio di Napoli.

The race was relaunched, for classical racing cars, in 1998. In 2006 the IX rievocazione storica Gran Premio di Napoli takes place at the same circuit. The Naples GP refers to a cycling race in the area, and there is also a Grand Prix of Naples horse race.
