Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals is a Vermont-based band that gained national attention with sell-out tours. The band blends funky blues, gospel and rock from the sixties and early seventies.

Leading vocalist is 22-year-old Grace Potter. She plays the Hammond B3, piano and guitar. Also in the band is Scott Tournet (guitar/slide guitar), Matthew Burr (drums/percussion), and Bryan Dondero (upright bass/electric bass).

They have independently recorded and released two albums, Nothing but the Water and Original Soul. They rely on word-of-mouth, online promotion and marketing through indie911.com. The band recently signed a deal with Hollywood Records (December, 2005) and re-released Nothing but the Water on May 23, 2006.

In 2005, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were nominated for two categories at the Boston Music Awards - Best Local Female Artist and Best New Local Act. [1] They also participated in the awards show as performers. [2]

In 2006, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals won the Jammy for Best New Groove [3] and were nominated for two more Boston Music Awards: Album Of The Year (major) for the re-release of Nothing But The Water, and Female Vocalist Of The Year (for front woman Grace Potter). [4]
