Govindappa Venkataswamy

Dr. Govindappa Venkataswamy( 1918 – 2006) is the founder of Aravind Eye Hospital group.
G.Venkataswamy was born in 1918 to a farming family in Vadamalapuram village in Tuticorin district of Tamilnadu. He graduated from Stanley Medical College, Chennai.

- Doctor of Medicine from Stanley Medical College in Madras in 1944
- Doctor of ophthalmology at the Government Ophthalmic Hospital in Madras in 1951
