The Gaud Saraswat Brahmins represent a relatively small group of Brahmins who have firmly established their identity as a unified community.

The history of the migration of Gaud Saraswat Brahmin ancestors from Kashmir to different places across India demonstrates how strong religious and cultural beliefs have continued into the present century.

Today the members of this community are situated chiefly in the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. A majority of GSBs speak Konkani. The members of the community are highly educated and in join the highly skilled professional work forces all over the world. This community is not extremely wealthy, nor is it politically influential within the Indian Government, but it takes pride in its educational and intellectual achievements.

In recent years, there has been a consistent emigration in this community due to the Reservationist and anti-Brahmin policies of the Indian Government and political class. The members of this community, however remain resilient to date and persevere in their education, career and lives.
