[edit] Metrology?

Is "metrology" a misspelling of "meterology" or is it intended to mean something else?

The science that deals with measurement., I'll make that more clear - FrancisTyers 18:32, 22 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Merge

Merging GOST with Gosstandart seems like a good idea for now. Might be an idea to have a List of GOST standards or something too. If no-one disagrees in a couple of days I'll go through with it and redirect GOST -> Gosstandart. - FrancisTyers 20:45, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Merging is not a good idea

Since GOST and Gosstandart are not the same thing, they should probably be kept separately. Besides, Gosstandart is a defunct word, since the organization that was formerly known as Gosstandart has recently been reformed from a standards developing institution into a federal agency for technical regulation and metrology and stripped of its responsibilities to develop standards. Unlike "GOST", which is still alive and kicking, the word "Gosstandart" is now an artifact of the USSR's history. As for the idea of posting a complete List of GOST standards, it is not very practical since there are over 30 thousand of them. SNIP publishes the index of GOST standards, which is 2000 pages long(!). Here is the link: http://www.snip.com/index
