Goswell Road is a road in the south of the London Borough of Islington. It runs south from the Angel end of City Road through Clerkenwell, crossing Old Street and continuing down to the border with the City of London where it becomes Aldersgate Street.

Notable places along the road include the main campus of City University to the west and the Headquarters of EWS Railways at 310 Goswell Road.

London Bus routes 56 and 4 run down Goswell Road.

[edit] History

The road was named after a nearby garden called 'Goswelle' or 'Goderell' which belonged to Robert Brandon, who was named Earl of Suffolk circa 1336.
