Gossensass-Colle Isarco

Gossensaß (German) or Colle Isarco (Italian) is a 4000 years old village in Italy, located north of Sterzing, Trentino-South Tyrol. It is the main village of the municipality Brenner. The most common language in this area is German, given the long Austrian domination.

Today Gossensaß benefits from the local tourism, especially during the winter when the ski resort in Ladurns is opened the village is full of tourists. In the past Gossensaß was a well known rest place where the coaches got prepared for the Brenner pass. In the 1st century, Gossensaß Isarco rose because of the local silver mines well.
