[edit] Klaatu/Gort relationship

I surmise that normally, Gort is in charge. However, programmers of the police may have included "First Contact" conditions which place one of their humanoids in a position to restrain the police robots when the humanoid judges it appropriate.

Thus, Klaatu is a "special deputy" and Gort is under program orders to follow Klaatu's orders. When Gort becomes aware that Klaatu has died, his normal programming engages until given (by anyone, apparently) the override "Klaatu barada nikto".

What this means? Unknown, but Gort stopped destroying humans (possibly reverting to only destroying their weapons), rescued Klaatu's body and brought it back to try to revive. GBC 18:31, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
