Gorontalo (province)

Gorontalo is a province of Indonesia. It is on the island of Sulawesi, and borders Central Sulawesi and North Sulawesi provinces. Gorontalo was split off from North Sulawesi in December 2000. The capital is Gorontalo City.

As of 2004, the province consists of one city of the same name and four regencies:

The area of Gorontalo Province is about 12,215 km² with the total population in 2004 about 887,000 people.
