Gorn Confederation

In the fictional Star Fleet Universe, the Gorn Confederation is a large interstellar state based off the material presented in Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Animated Series. It has been engaged in numerous conflicts with the Romulan Star Empire and has friendly relations with the United Federation of Planets. It is the last major power to join the General War, on the side of the Alliance.
The Gorn Confederation is a powerful empire located coreward of the Romulan Star Empire, also bordering the United Federation of Planets and the Interstellar Concordium. It is comprised of three genetically related races, each from a neighbouring star system, known as Ghdar I, Ghdar II and Ghdar III, are on the coreward border of the Romulan Star Empire and are portrayed as a more civilized and cultured race than as referenced in the Paramount Star Trek universe.
They ally in Y174 with the Kzinti Hegemony, the Hydran Kingdom, the Federation and the Tholian Holdfast in the General War. The alliance between the Gorn and the Federation - following a brief conflict over a misunderstanding regarding the Federation colony on Cestus III, a Gorn world - represents one of the only alliances that is based on mutual trust and desire for friendship as opposed to political convienence.
They are mutually antagonistic with the Romulans, with whom they share a border with the Interstellar Concordium, and were among the first races to feel the effects of the ISC War of Pacification.
The Gorns (note that in the SFU, the distinction beteen 'Gorn' as the singular term, and 'Gorns' as the plural, is made) are a reptilian humanoid race standing 9 feet tall and weighing over 400lb. This gives them the ability to be good fighters (taking over enemy ships, planets, etc).
The more canonically appearance in Startrek: Enterprise states that the official name of the Gorn state is known as the Gorn Hegemony
