Gorgonzola

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gorgonzola is a comune in the province of Milan, and is part of Lombardy, Italy. The well known Gorgonzola cheese is claimed by the residents, the Gorgonzolesi, to have originated in Gorgonzola in 879 A.D. [1], although other towns claim the origins too.[2]

In Belgian comic book series The Adventures of Tintin, criminal tycoon Roberto Rastapopoulos claims to be the "Marquis di Gorgonzola"; Gorgonzola didn't actually have a marquis at all, let alone a fugitive Greek one.
