Gordon Divinity School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gordon Divinity School is a divinity school established in 1889.

It was originally founded by the Rev. Dr. Adoniram Judson Gordon. Gordon said he established the school out of a desire to equip "men and women in practical religious work...and to furnish them with a thoroughly biblical training." Assisting him was James M. Gray.

The Rev Gordon called the school the Boston Bible and Missionary Training School. It was based in Boston, Massachusetts and the school shared Gordon's deep concern for missions abroad and in New England urban centers. Upon his death, the institution was given his name, and the Gordon Divinity School eventually moved to Boston's North Shore community of Wenham.

In 1969, the school merged with the Conwell School of Theology to become today's Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
