[edit] Faculty
Students can expect a solid education from faculty at Gordon College. The close faculty-student ratio allows for true relationships to be formed with dialogue that reaches beyond the classroom lecture. Gordon faculty value their relationships with students. Professors see those relationships as meaningful ways to fulfill an important Christian calling. More than 90 percent of faculty members at the College have earned terminal degrees in their fields. Many have published scholarly books and are recognized nationally as leading authorities in their disciplines.
Gordon College believes that true learning requires the guidance of someone who knows students’ particular skills and abilities; the inspiration of someone who has a passion for a given area of study; and the care of someone who is committed to living Christ’s love – all of which one will find in the faculty at Gordon College. Gordon’s commitment to an all-encompassing moral imagination is what makes it one of the nation’s top-ranked Christian colleges.
[edit] Fine Arts
Gordon is one of the nation’s few Christian colleges to offer top-notch programs in sculpting, painting, photography, music performance, theatre and stage design. The College’s music program is supported by nationally known performers and educators including Mia Chung, James Buswell, Carol Ou and Kenneth Phillips. Gordon is also proud to be the home of the international headquarters for Christians in the Visual Arts.
[edit] Student Life
Gordon College places great value on personal development and the health of its students. Gordon’s Residence Life program seeks to develop deep, lasting relationships and Christian community.
Gordon encourages students to get involved on campus beyond the classroom. Opportunities include leadership and involvement in such areas as the Gordon College Student Association, Student Ministries, Intramural Sports and the Campus Events Council.
[edit] Philosophy & Faith
The adventures of a Gordon education help develop the intellectual sophistication and moral imagination to creatively use gifts and talents in the service of God and neighbor. Students applying to Gordon are asked to fill out a statement of faith and be willing to sign a Life and Conduct statement agreeing to the standards of behavior that Gordon values.
Gordon is the only non-denominational Christian college in New England, and strives to be an academic institution where its students are encouraged to give thoughtful consideration to the views and ideas presented from fellow students and faculty.
[edit] Opportunities
Gordon seeks to provide students with on-campus and off-campus internships and hands-on work experience. The college’s close proximity to Boston allows for a large variety of internship opportunities that can be tailored to one’s academic needs and interests.

[edit] History
Gordon College was founded in 1889 by Rev. Dr. Adoniram Judson Gordon as the Boston Missionary Training School in the basement of the Clarendon Street Church. Within 30 years the school outgrew the Clarendon Street Church location and moved to a new building in the Fenway portion of Boston, financed by a generous gift from Martha Frost. In 1955 Gordon moved to its current location in Wenham, MA. The Wenham campus is the former estate of Frederick Prince.
