Gordon Bombay

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gordon Bombay, played by Emilio Estevez, is the head coach of the fictional Mighty Ducks movies. Bombay was sentenced to coach the District 5 pee-wee hockey team, who later became the Ducks, after being charged with DWI. Bombay played pee-wee hockey as a child for the pee-wee Hawks, who had a reputation for being the best team in the league. After being tripped on a breakaway in the final seconds of the championship game, Bombay was given a penalty shot. Bombay hit the post and his team went on to lose in overtime. This seemed to be the end of Bombay's hockey career until he was forced into coaching the Ducks. It is interesting to note that both his first and last names are brands of gin. Bombay is one of the most memorable movie characters from the early nineties.
