Gorden Tallis (born July 27, 1973) is widely regarded as one of the best rugby league players in the late 90's and early 00's. Nicknamed the "Raging Bull" for his fearless running game, he made his first grade debut for St. George on August 29, 1992. After 54 games for the Dragons he moved to Brisbane in 1997. With the Broncos he won three premierships, played 160 first grade games and captained the club from 2001 until his retirement in 2004. He was also captain of Queensland from 2001-2003, leading them as they retained the State of Origin crown in 2002. He missed a great portion of 2001 (Including the final 2 State of Origin games) due to a severe neck injury that eventually led to his retirement. Tallis caused controversy when he was the only player to sit out the 1996 Australian Rugby League season as a casualty of the Super League war. Tallis played his last official match in the 2004 semi-final, fittingly in his hometown of Townsville, against the Cowboys.
Tallis had a stellar national representative career. He played in 13 Tests for the Australia national teambetween 1978 and 1983 as captain on 1 occasions in the 2002 one off Test against New Zealand.
