From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My Wiki nom de plum, "GoodNobody" comes from a short story by William Kotzwinkle, if you must know. It seems appropriate to use it while making contributions that feel half scholarly and half hacker-ly.
I am on the faculty of interactive media design at The Art Institute of Seattle, teaching Flash animation and Web delivery, Web design, writing and basic computer. There: with that information, you can actually look me up by my true name if you really, really want to. I hold an MA in dramatic art from the University of California, Berkeley, a BA in theare from Reed College, and a AAA in multimedia and Web design from the school on whose faculty I now serve. I also teach a yearly class in games using Flash and ActionScript at Cascadia Community College.
Given that I teach interactive authoring, my interest in Wikipedia should be obvious. I come by my interest from another direction as well. Since my undergraduate days, I have been a fan of Denis Diderot, editor of the first comprehensive encyclopedia. In fact, I just finished touching up a few things in his entry. I see that Diderot, in his "discussion" session is properly credited by SlimVirgin with having developed some of the first links. I am most fond of his "Rameau's Nephew", fond to the extent that I've translated it and adapted it for the stage while working on a grant from the State of Washington. Sorry, it's unpublished.
After received my MA from Berkeley, I worked in Seattle theater for 20-odd years, both in the large houses and small. I've directed, written and designed for the stage, and even acted on it on occasion. After retiring from the amusing but penniless world of the theater, I edited for Boeing, wrote for Starbucks, wrote HTML and finally ended up teaching interactive media.
