Gonikoppal is a census town in Kodagu district in the Indian state of Karnataka.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Gonikoppal had a population of 7251. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Gonikoppal has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 83%, and female literacy is 73%. In Gonikoppal, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Gonikoppal is considered to be the center part of Coorg, as too many people who travel across from mysore to parts of mangalore pass via this place. Gonikoppa belongs to Virajpet Tlq. Also all the worth visiting places are in a considerably near and marginally of same distance from Gonikoppal. There are a couple of good Hotels (Lodge & Restaurants) in the heart of the city. (Golden Gate, which is on the main way heading to Ponnampet and Mount View in the proper Gonikoppal City).
