Golf is a sports-related video game released in 1985 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and was the first golfing game to feature Mario. His appearance is slightly different from how he usually looks in games, wearing white and blue clothes and being fat.

[edit] Gameplay

The user must first decide whether to play single stroke play or the two player selections of doubles stroke play or match play. The user is then placed at the tee of the first hole of eighteen. The game does not automatically switch to the best club, making it harder for a user with no knowledge of golf clubs at a disadvantage.

[edit] Ports

This game was included on the Game Boy Advance e-Reader and was included on Animal Crossing. Hudson Soft released a port of the game for the Japan-only NEC PC-8801 in 1985. The game was also ported onto Power Player Super Joy III without authorization from Nintendo. It also appeared in WarioWare: Twisted! as one of 9-Volt's microgames.

[edit] Trivia

  • The Power Player Super Joy III version had swapped occurrences of letters T and N.
  • A version of this game is playable in the GameCube game Animal Crossing if you buy it from Crazy Redd, or order it from Tom Nook after buying it from Redd.
  • Nine of the eighteen holes from this game are included in Wii Sports: Golf. [1].
