From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Goleen (An Gólín in Irish) is a small rural village in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, on the south-western tip of Ireland. Farming is the main occupation of its inhabitants with small numbers engaged in fishing. The village has four pubs (some would say a good number considering its population) four shops, a petrol station and a number of restaurants.

The village has both a Catholic church and a smaller Church of Ireland church situated just outside the village.

The village of Goleen is located towards the south-western end of the Mizen Peninsula, in West Cork. This area is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Mizen head on the Mizen peninsula is the most southernly point on the island of Ireland.
