A Golden aster, Old genus Chrysopsis, and new Genus Heterotheca.is a member of Family Asteraceae. This is a new world genus of the family.
Goldenasters are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Schinia lynx, Schinia nubila and Schinia saturata (all of which have been recorded on Heterotheca subaxillaris) and Schinia petulans (which feeds exclusively on Chrysopsis subulata).
