The Golden Age is the movie sequel to the film Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett. Written by Michael Hirst and produced by Working Title Films, The Golden Age is directed by Shekhar Kapur. It is planned for an October 2007 release. It was filmed at Shepperton Studios, and on the following locations around the UK: Westminster Cathedral, Ely Cathedral, Winchester Cathedral and St. John's College, Cambridge.

Film insiders have revealed Blanchett shaved her hairline to recreate the dramatic look from her Oscar-nominated performance in Elizabeth. As well as this Blanchett bleached her eyebrows and eyelashes - and caked on layers of white make-up to lighten her naturally pale complexion.[citation needed]
