Gohar Mumtaz (Urdu: گوہر ممتاز) is a Pakistani musician and the founder of Jal. Gohar was born on July 27th, 1981 in Faisalabad and lived most of his life in Faisalabad. This 25 year composed and made up lyrics for songs such as "Woh Lamhay", "Aadat", and "Dil Haarey", which have all become anthems for pop lovers. He sold his cycle to get a guitar when he was in intermidiate. Gohar first came up with these songs back when he broke his leg in Faisalabad during his FSc and was bed-ridden for 6 months.

His accident was just a motivation to the inspiration of a sacred face that has kept him going on in his life. A face which the whole world can see through his tears reflecting in his songs. His feelings can be easily witnessed through these words "Woh Yaadain Bun Ke Beh Gayin Jo Tere Mun Mein Thi To Tera Chehra Kiyun Yaad ‎Aaye Teri Chaah Mujhe Kiyun Sataaye Woh Jo Chehra Hai Dil Ko Bhaye Kiyun Na Dil ‎Se Dil Ko Milai".

Moving to Lahore, he made up his mind to form a band, he pegged Atif Aslam as a fellow band-mate, but due to differences between the two, have now split. Atif was replaced by Farhan Saeed. Jal's music has become popular worldwide along the South Asian subcontinent and they have toured America, India and Bangladesh in hopes to further succeed.

Gohar is one of the best talents in Pakistan. From creating the lyrics of the song to playing guitar, he is superb. Gohar has a huge fanbase in Pakistan because of his talents.
