God Grew Tired of Us is a documentary film about the lost boys of Sudan directed by Christopher Dillon Quinn and codirected by Tom Walker.
GOD GREW TIRED OF US chronicles the incredible odyssey of three young Sudanese men - John, Daniel and Panther - in the strange new world of America and how they strive towards a brighter future. As young boys in the 1980s, John, Daniel, and Panther escaped their war-ridden homeland of Sudan. They are among over 25,000 boys, who came to be known as the ‘lost boys.’ During the five years they walked in search of safety, thousands died from starvation and bomb raids. Finally, the lost boys found safety in Kenya’s Kakuma refugee camp. In 2001, John, Daniel and Panther were given an incredible opportunity. Along with 3,600 other lost boys, they were invited by the United States to live in America. Once again, John, Daniel and Panther embark on another journey. They must now learn to adapt to the bizarre shock of Western culture, while never forgetting the loved ones they left behind in Africa.
This film won both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award in the Independent Film Competition: Documentary category at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.
Newmarket Films has acquired the North American distribution rights to God Grew Tired of Us with the plans for a late fall release in 2006.
