Hello, in the above talk page you mentioned the major "criminal justice," which I didn't really find back then. How do you know that?? - Eagleamn 17:28, 25 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] "Module Patching"
Hi!
My effort to relieve links to disambiguation pages is what brought me to the Stephen Landsburg page, as it had a link to "module", as a part of the phrase "module patching". "Module" can mean many very different things in many very different fields, and it's important to have internal links in Wikipedia resolve to a meaningful article so the reader following the link can find what they want -- a context-correct definition ofthe term they've clicked.
Normally, I simply change the involved link to reference a more specific topic. Here, I found that I couldn't figure out what "module patching" specifically was. If I search Google for it [1], I get about 520 hits. Most of them involve patching software modules. But that doesn't make much sense because LAndsburg has done no other work in the field of Software. Plus, if I narrow the Google search to include only articles with his name [2] the only hits I get are in Wikipedia-supplied content.
Content in Wikipedia must be verifiable, particularly for articles on living people. Can we verify that Mr. Landsburg has worked on "module patching"? If you can supply some verifiable references to substantiate this claim, then we can add the text back to the article -- and we should be able to do so with a reference to an article about "modules" in the correct field.
Otherwise, this claim looks to be unverifiable and can't be included in the encyclopedia.

- Hi again, Gnossie! I must say, I'm quite surprised at your distemperate response to my edit. Of course my involvement is amateurish—I don't think anyone is able to earn a living by editing Wikipedia. As far as being unwelcome, you might want to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's policies. Meanwhile, if "module patching" is so important to this subject, why not cite the reference you've given me on the page itself to define the term? That'll help the article realize some progress. -- Mikeblas 19:48, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

- Hello, Gnossie! I see that you reverted my edit to the Landsburg page, but you forgot to add a reference to the page that you found with the paper he wrote. Remember, things on Wikipedia need to be verifiable. By adding a reference to the paper, you can help make sure nobody else is confused. I know it's a lot to ask, but since you really got your knickers in a twist about "wasting your time" (and somehow wasting Landsburg's time, too, since you couldn't find the link paper yourself, either), I wanted to make sure that you got it taken care of. As a professional economist, I'm sure you're well-aware that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Have a great afternoon! -- Mikeblas 04:27, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
