[edit] Cautionary note
Hello, I just thought you should know that you have violated Wikipedia:Three revert rule by thrice reverting changes to a proposed policy guideline: [1], [2], [3]. I am sure it was an honest mistake. I just ask that you try to be more careful and to remember that no-one ones the ability to control changes in a policy still under active discussion. Johntex\talk 00:34, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note. I may have made a mistake. Let me check into it again... Johntex\talk 00:44, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry. I was wrong about my second diff above. You did not violate 3RR. I don't think Rgulerdem really did either, since I invited him to under my revert of him because he pointed out to me that he actually had discussed the changes he was trying to make. Cheers, Johntex\talk 00:50, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Me again
Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I have advised Haizum that I believe policy gives you (Gerard) the right to delete comments off your own talk page. It is also my understanding that his accusing you of trolling does not constitute a personal attack. I have advized Haizum he should feel free to delete your comments of his talk page if he chooses. Best, Johntex\talk 23:35, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Copic markers
For the markers, I'd suggest trying Megagear, the megatokyo web shop, they ship to Europe. Getting refill ink will probably be harder. (You could mail Fred and ask if he could arrange something.) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.166.82.163 (talk • contribs) .
- Thanks, I'll check it out. Gerard Foley 18:07, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Just curious
1. Do you know what happened to the viewpoint that the "no censorship" policy does not mean that wikipedia should have no policy?
2. Do you think that the discussion on the current censorship policy will reach a consensus, that is 100% of all votes agree on its content? DanielDemaret 22:38, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedians against censorship
Yes, I did know. I was involved in that discussion. It's always a bit weird to be involved in a dispute, and then later find out that editors were posting notices to encourage more participants on a certain side. If the notice had been neutral I wouldn't mind, but since it takes one side and gives incorrect information, I thought it appropriate to correct it, even though the immediate dispute has passed. -Will Beback 23:42, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Editor Discrimination clause
Hi... I was just wondering if you've had a look at the proposed addition to section three of Wikipedia:Censorship. It seems to me that the proposed policy is a much-needed attempt at clarifying some existing policies and guidelines which should be policy. I'll be quite surprised if you find anything to disagree with in the proposed addition to section three (link). The criticism posted under the proposal does a pretty good job of explaining the need for it, as none of it addresses the text. HolokittyNX 11:52, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wiktionary sitenotice reply
Hi Gerard, In answer to your (very good, valid) question on Wiktionary, basically we had a spate of heavy vandalism from somebody using an AOL account to grab IP addresses for sockpuppets. What you see there now is the result of much hemming and hawing about how to control the problem. We think we've controlled the problem through other means, and we'll probably unblock and take down the notice in the next few days. If you'd like more of the gory details, sign on to the #wiktionary IRC channel sometime and we'll gladly explain what we can. --Dvortygirl 08:17, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Don't give up
Please don't give up on Wikipedia. Yes, there can be tough times, to the point of absurdity, but hang in there! On the side note, I've received a blank page when I click on your wiki link. --Jqiz 19:10, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
-
- 100% sure. I've just checked again --Jqiz 19:18, 29 March 2006 (UTC).
- Since this isn't wikipedia related, I'm going to switch over to e-mail mode ;). You've got mail! --Jqiz 19:26, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
- I thought I'd add my thoughts here. If cajoling and convincing can work, I'll try it. You are a valuable contributor on Wikipedia (and definitely on Simple English Wiktionary), so I hope you don't give up on it just because some people do a few (or even many) things you don't like. The rest of the community is generally reasonable, and Wikipedia is much bigger than any one page or issue. Please don't give up on it. Oh, and I also checked your wiki both yesterday and today and got a blank page. If someone goes to your website (www.gmcfoley.com) without anything else in the url, they get your welcome page with the link to your wiki, but that goes to the same blank page. I'm interested in helping, but what will your wiki be about?
-
-
- I also have two questions regarding Simple English Wiktionary. How do I change the title line so that it reads "Simple English Wiktionary" instead of "Wiktionary"? I assume it is on MediaWiki, but I don't know where. And how do I change the current "Image:wiki.png"? I've tried a few things, but they didn't work for me. Thanks! --Cromwellt|Talk 14:23, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simple English projects
I thought I'd come to your En Wikipedia talk page, hoping that you'll see this and respond. I may try putting this on your WikiKnowledge user talk page as well. Did you hear about my problems with Netoholic and his hypocritical campaign against all simple English projects except SEWikipedia? Well, because of some developments in the situation at SEWikipedia, he's taken it to the next level. He has proposed that those projects be closed. I know you don't want that to happen, so please vote oppose. I made a sort of advisory banner for the Main Page of all those projects, which makes it convenient for you to vote:
Advisory: Some users from other projects are trying to close Simple English Wiktionary, SEWikibooks, and SEWikiquote, even though we've barely begun! If you think these projects should not be closed, vote oppose here and here.
Thanks for taking a moment and helping to stop this outrage! --Cromwellt|Talk|Contris 07:19, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the message; I've rectified the error now. Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:01, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I used that site as an example of where books where transwiki-d to; I don't think it would be possible to list all of them. Good luck with your site, though! Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:19, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiknowledge on Pokemon pages
Hi, I noticed you're adding links to your wiki on the Pokemon pages. However, I have doubts as to whether your wiki is notable enough to be linked to. Judging from your userpage, you're just adding the links to promote your new site, and that is considered linkspam. Also, none of the content is original or unique - it is easily available on the numerous other websites in the External Links section. Thanks. -- Steel 11:03, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
- I wasn't making a personal attack on your wiki, and I apologise if it sounded like that. You userpage made it look like you were just adding the links to advertise your site. Again, sorry if I came across differently to how I intended. -- Steel 11:29, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey. I saw you adding {{WikiKnowledge}} to a lot of the pokemon pages. It might be helpful if you found somebody with Auto-Wiki Browser. They could add it to every pokemon article within like, 1 minute.--Ac1983fan (talk • contribs) 13:32, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
