Glory Farm Primary and Nursery School

Glory Farm Primary and Nursery School is located at Sunderland Drive in Bicester, Oxfordshire, England. The school logo is a plough. Glory Farm Primary School is between Bardwell Special School and Cooper Secondary School.

The school first opened in 1977, on a site formerly used for farming. There are signs outside each area to show the purpose for which it was used. The first head teacher was Mr Waine who was the head for 27 years since it opened. Mr Waine brought lots of happy years for the pupils but retired in 2003. Mr Waine is now in the running for Bicester council representetive.

There are approximately 450 children at Glory Farm Primary School which makes about 15 classes. The classes are a mix of boys and girls. The children mainly have only one teacher but for mathematics they often have a different teacher.
[edit] Links with Bardwell Special School
Four children go over to Bardwell Special school every Friday from 1:45pm till 3:00pm. They may visit the sensory room. They take turns having gatherings (assemblies) to show the rest of the classes. There are people there who are 16 or under. One class from Bardwell join year 5 children to do PE and Music on a Thursday before lunch.

At Glory Farm Primary school there are after-school activities such as Athletics, Badminton, Netball, Football for boys and girls, art club, Tag Rugby, cricket and Glory Gang. Other events include the summer fete, the annual water fight between Year 6 and the Teachers, the tug-o-war tournament and sports day. Children in the juniors (Years 3 to 6) go on residentials. There are school visits to Malvern Hills, Cheddar, Bath, the Isle of Wight, Norfolk, North Wales (Conwy) and North Yorkshire.

Every class has an interactive 'SMART Board', or Interactive Whiteboards which can be used like a blackboard or connected to a computer or the internet. The children love having goes on them as they don't usually get a go.
[edit] Outside Area
Children take turns to use the adventure playground. When it is sunny they go on the field and when it is wet they go on the playground. There is a science garden. The play games like football, pat ball and others. The infants use the small playground and the juniors use the large playground. There is now a new garden which has been dedicated to Steven Barbosa and is called stevens garden. In it we have two benches dedicated to him and a plack the garden was reasantly opened by his parents and family.

There is school representative from each class and the rest of the class give them ideas to take to the meetings. At the meetings the representatives discuss them and decide what they will improve in the school. They also organise raising money for charities like the RSPCA, Water Aid and Seeds for Africa.
