Glenn Keith Bidmead (born February 3, 1962) is a Sydney, Australia based singer, songwriter, guitarist, performer, record producer and sound engineer. Formerly, he was a part of renowned Australian Pop Rock/Soft Rock band LemonJuice, which enjoyed several years of success in Japan and South Korea with partner Steve Glover.

[edit] Early years

Having been born at St Margarets Hospital in Darlinghurst, Sydney, young Glenn started playing guitars at nine years of age and by the time he was a high school boy he had already commenced performing in gigs on weekends together with his brother Paul Bidmead who happens to be a gifted drummer and vocalist. Glenn & Paul continued to perform covers of their favourite stars for years to come.

In 1988, Bidmead moved to Brisbane, Queensland in pursuit of furthering his musical ambitions and continued to perform in gigs. Several years down track he comes across another songwriter, musician Steve Glover. Bidmead & Glover formed the band LemonJuice. Together the duo released two albums called Squeezed (1996) and Twentieth Century Decadence (1997). After several successful years as a professional band catering for a Far Eastern audience, LemonJuice was on the verge of being released in the Western world. However, the other half of the band Steve Glover actually got fed up of being in the spotlight and split the band to pursue an independent song-writing career in his home town of Brisbane.

Among the several hit songs that LemonJuice produced in Asia were Walk On The Wire, You Know I Know, One And One Is Three and Colour Combination.

[edit] Solo career

Bidmead was left with no option but to continue on as a solo artist. Incidentally, in 1998 he caught the attention of JWM & Roughcut Music's John Woodruff (the manager of Savage Garden) and signed a recording and publishing contract with him. Later during the same year, Bidmead gets his debut album Seven Seconds produced by Charles Fisher in Sydney and travels to Los Angeles, United States to get it mixed by world-renowned Sound Engineer Chris Lord-Alge.^[1]

His first single called Find Love was released by Warner Music in Australia in 1999. The music video for this track was directed by New York based filmmaker Adolfo Doring who is famous for the video clip he made for the Savage Garden hit Truly Madly Deeply.^[2]

[edit] The struggle

In 2000 Bidmead released a second single called A World Away through Roadshow/Warner Music and was discharged from his record deal shortly afterwards. However, John Woodruff continued on with him independently for years to come.

Among Glenn Bidmead's independent notable solo albums released are Red Dirt Road and Songs in Black & White, The Acoustic Sessions EP.

[edit] Contemporary works

Glenn Bidmead is currently very much involved in the world of music. For the past few years, he has been employed with the Queensland Government to conduct musical workshops across Australia and overseas. These workshops are designed to bring the best out of talented youngsters. Brisbane based Australian Pop duo sisters The Veronicas are an example of youngsters who came through out of these workshops.^[3]

Bidmead is also in a Country Rock band called Kerosene with his partner who is one of Australia's top drummers, Kere Buchanan. Kere has performed live in concert as a drummer for a broad range of notable Australian artists, such as Marcia Hines, Margaret Urlich, Wendy Matthews, Rick Price, Tina Arena and Kasey Chambers. Kerosene's current Manager Hayden Bell happens to be in Nashville, United States at present organising the release of their debut album called Art of Survival.^[4]

He is also the producer and co-songwriter of Raasta which is the first and only Australian Urdu Pop Rock band to date. Glenn Bidmead, a close friend and colleague of Daniel Jones of Savage Garden, will soon be mixing (Sound Engineering) Raasta's debut album with Daniel Jones on his SSL (Solid State Logic) mixing console at his prestigious Level7Studios in Sydney.

He has also co-written with Foreigner Guitarist/songwriter Mick Jones in New York City, as well as many other artists.

He is frequently involved with mixing in with world-renowned music industry personalities, often offering his professional assistance in a broad range of areas.
