Glen Downey is a professional football player, currently without a club after being released by Grimsby Town in July 2006.
Glen started his career as a trainee at Hartlepool but failed to make a single first team appearance.
Downey was signed for Grimsby from from Russell Slade’s former club Scarborough in August 2004 as defensive cover and was given a new one-year-deal despite the fact he only played 14 minutes in his first season, having been named as substitute 30 times.
He was often referred to as 'The invisible man' by Grimsby fans, who speculated if he really existed. They were amazed when, in his only appearance of the 2005-06 season, he came on as substitute and scored an 84th minute winner against Wrexham
